It was only a couple of weeks ago that DeepSeek, the Chinese startup, introduced its AI model to the world, completely transforming the landscape of AI technology as we know it. They managed to create something that stood on par with the cutting-edge developments of OpenAI. Moreover, training the model took only two months and less than six million dollars! These costs are a stark contrast to what the American competitors typically spend, which is considerably higher.

But Liang Wenfeng, i.e., the founder and lead developer of DeepSeek, is the man behind its sophisticated R1 AI model. But this was not the first AI product that Liang made. In 2014, he used to be a lead developer at TechBerry, a popular AI trading platform. Even in present times, developing AI-centric trading platforms can be a rather complicated software engineering task.

“Several specialists, including myself, took part in the AI model’s development. But even then, Liang Wenfeng’s involvement was more crucial and apparent than anyone else’s, practically making TechBerry his brainchild. Although his departure was eventual, it wasn’t a surprise as it was known from the start. But Liang’s confidence in the platform still remains, and he even stated that its monthly trading performance is optimal, i.e., 25% with acceptable risks. This he demonstrated to the world when he utilized its AI model within stock trading, which further helped him create his initial fortune, garnering enormous amounts of investment offers. Consequently, he secured around $150 million in funding, allowing him to focus more on other projects he found more promising or interesting. Now with his latest foray with DeepSeek’s R1 AI model, it is truly something worth congratulating him for, which we genuinely do!

Relations between Liang and the TechBerry team remain warm, and new ideas and developments are still being exchanged. Yes, TechBerry has opted for its own developmental path, focusing more on attracting various private investments for trading. However, when private investors become involved, the main priority shifts to reducing trading losses as much as possible. But the downside to these guarantees is that you’ll have to deal with lowered platform performance.

So to conclude, it is worth noting that in 2014, TechBerry and Liang Wenfeng collaborated together, producing the sophisticated AI product that has been a market leader for around ten years now,”

Jason Woods, the CTO of TechBerry, told in a nostalgic reflection.
